The Buffalo Stampede

Captain Buffalo.jpg

This piece served as the inspiration for C.G. to develop a series of heroes and villains rooted in life in the Buffalo, NY area. He discovered the mock-up cover in a historical Buffalo Facebook group, which pays homage to the Golden Age covers of the late 1930s and 40s. In reality, the Maid of the Mist refers to the tour boats that bring visitors to the base Niagara Falls. The Griffin is associated with Canisius University, home of the Golden Griffins. The Polish Falcon symbolizes Buffalo's Polish community and the Polish Falcon Society, while Green Lightning refers to a sculpture of the same name, from 1984, that garnered significant attention.

In addition to the commissions created by Alex, C.G. has shared the comic book covers that as inspiration for the commissions.
